FOLLOW MY INSTRUCTIONS - Impératif

Hello, kiddos!

How are you?

Today,

- Take your copybook.

- Open your copybook to a new (nouvelle) page.

- Write the date and the weather (météo), with (avec. Ca se prononce wizz) a BLUE pen.

- Write, with a RED pen, as (comme) a title (titre) : L'IMPÉRATIF.

- Skip (saute) a line.

- Copy this: (still (toujours) in red)

L'impératif sert à donner des conseils, des ordres ou des indications à suivre.

L'impératif, se construit comme en français :

Pas de pronom personnel + un verbe

En français, il y a TROIS terminaisons possibles. En anglais... aucune : on utilise la Base Verbale (= le radical du verbe.)

MANGEANT = EATING

MANGÉE = EATEN

La base verbale de MANGER en anglais, est EAT, par exemple.

Careful (=attention)!

- Don't forget (oublier) the negative form!

- Take your RED pen!

- Write this :

Parfois, l'ordre, l'indication ou le conseil font référence à quelque chose qu'il NE faut PAS faire.

NE PAS FAIRE = DON'T

Pour donner un conseil à la forme négative, on écrit :

DON'T + BASE VERBALE

Ex: DON'T FORGET

Ex 2 : Suis mes instructions

1. Take (= prendre) a sheet of A4 paper (or a newspaper page, or a magazine page.)

2. Fold (= plier) the paper in TWO.

3. Cut (= couper) one corner.

4. Trace (= Tracer) a THREE on the folded side (côté plié) of the page.

5. Turn your folded paper.

6. Trace an inverted (= inversé) THREE on the folded side of the page.

7. Don't cut another (= un autre) corner.

8. Unfold (= déplier) your paper.

9. Finish your drawing.

10. Send a photograph of your drawing to me.
